One of the only certainties in healthcare is that change will happen fast and frequently. New life sciences treatments, new payment models, new regulations – so much can change in a few months, much less a few decades. It’s enough to put any healthcare analyst or benefits professional on the backfoot.
We know because we’ve seen it first-hand. For more than 40 years, we have been a steady presence in the rolling sea that is healthcare. We’ve stayed ahead of the curve with first-in-the-market and time-tested solutions to support health and benefits program analysis, price transparency compliance, and benefits plan selection.
We continue to innovate, and today we’re proud to re-introduce Truven by Merative – our portfolio of trusted healthcare data and analytics solutions for employers, health plans, and benefits advisors. As part of that, we’re unveiling new enhancements to our flagship offering, Health Insights.
To reflect on this announcement, Merative CEO, Gerry McCarthy, and IDC Research Director, Jeff Rivkin, hosted a discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing self-insured employers and health plans.
We want our clients to be informed and prepared for important conversations about health and wellness program effectiveness and cost. Benefits professionals and healthcare analysts have less time than ever to evaluate and understand opportunities to improve program effectiveness and costs. They also are not data scientists – they need easy-to-use tools that can provide accurate and timely insights on population health.
With the enhanced Truven Health Insights, everyone across the organization – especially business users – can surface actionable insights with even more confidence and speed. Our healthcare analytics solution aggregates data across all data types, then layers on intelligence to bring it all together for simpler, faster analysis. That means insights are enhanced by our best-in-class analytic methods, including episode groupers, quality rules, and predictive models. Users can analyze, visualize, and report on aggregate rates and trends affecting their population’s health and costs to inform future initiatives.
We doubled down on the qualities that have made Health Insights a leader in the healthcare analytics industry: best-in-class data quality, innovative advanced analytics, and proven expertise. On top of that, we’ve made enhancements to make it even easier to find real-time trends, drivers, and insights, regardless of analytics skills, including:
We wanted to make it even faster to get insights into the top financial and clinical KPIs that matter most to employers and health plans. Our gallery of pre-configured dashboards makes it easy to explore data by category (cost-and-use, eligibility, pharmacy, clinical). Now our clients can drill down for deeper analysis and customize dashboards with ease.
Our new Visualization Studio makes it easy to personalize the experience with data visualizations and metrics that reflect unique business needs – no middleman needed. All our dashboards are now available as a “jump start” helping clients quickly build new personalized views to make insights even more relevant. Clients can also collaborate on dashboards and reports created by their community of users with the new Content Catalog.
Health Insights offers a simplified and seamless workflow for business users and power users to collaborate and report on detailed analyses, such as program comparisons that can uncover potential savings. With one click, users can move from dashboards to the Ad Hoc Report Writer, a no-code reporting tool that’s tailor-made for power users who want to dig deeper into the data and report out to stakeholders.
Our cloud-based platform provides a secure foundation and functionality for healthcare data analysis, including unified security management and best-in-class security scanning, code, and application security. We built Health Insights on Microsoft Azure to support scalability, reliability, performance, and important security and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA.
We’ve made several improvements under the hood to dramatically reduce the time it takes to glean value from data, enabling faster and more frequent system data updates. It’s all backed by more than 400 automated data quality checks at each phase in our processing pipeline to ensure trust and confidence in the insights.
We stay in lockstep with our clients to provide the support and innovation they need to rise to the occasion for their members and employees. As we developed this new release, we worked closely with our clients to make sure the platform was exceeding expectations. We’re confident in what we’ve built and are eager for users to begin their analytic exploration, receiving feedback like, “I love the new version! It makes things easier, provides me more flexibility, while keeping all the power that I have grown to rely on.”
We’ve also made investments across the Truven portfolio to improve health and benefits programs and inform decision-making with data, analytics, and member engagement tools.
