Exclusive survey from Merge finds that, while 77% of medical imaging enterprises rely on cloud, adoption and integration challenges persist
Cloud technology has become the backbone of modern imaging organizations. In fact, most enterprise imaging organizations today rely on cloud infrastructure, in part or in full, for storing and accessing medical information.
As imaging organizations increasingly embrace cloud-native tools and technologies, however, they are transforming on different trajectories and at different paces. That is why we decided to survey 100 medical imaging practitioners in the United States about their level of enterprise cloud adoption, investment prioritization, and integration requirements. This helps us all get a better understanding of how these cloud transformation journeys are progressing; the benefits, opportunities, and challenges facing imaging organizations in moving to the cloud; and perspectives on the desired end state for patient and provider experiences in the cloud.
So, what did we find?
Medical imaging practitioners are eager for technological improvements — but most organizations still have work to do when it comes to integrating cloud technologies into their workflows and supporting their practitioners to make sure they are leveraging the cloud to its maximum potential.
No matter where imaging organizations are on their enterprise imaging journey, survey respondents agreed that imaging solutions built with a cloud-first, cloud-native mindset can help enable “any image, anywhere, anytime” reading, improving the day-to-day for clinicians and care for patients. We are taking this advice in our design of Merge Imaging Suite, an interoperable workspace that streamlines access to patient medical information and drives efficient workflow at every step of a provider’s cloud journey.
