Merge January 2025 newsletter: The clinical experience in 2025

Published January 28, 2025 | 3 min read

Dear Merge customers,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a festive and relaxing holiday and that your organization is already off to a great 2025. I’m coming up on my one-year anniversary since I joined Merge as their Chief Medical Officer, which calls to mind two things: one, I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown! And two, what a packed, productive, and inspiring year it has been. Between SIIM, RSNA, and last year’s Merge User Meeting, I’ve had the opportunity to meet face to face with so many of you, hearing from you directly on your Merge experience – what has been working, what you would like to see more of, and how best we can continue pushing our imaging solutions forward to meet you where you are.

Over the past year I’ve been talking in all of these venues about a few subjects that I’m passionate about – finding the “moderate middle” in imaging solutions and the clinical perspective on cybersecurity – and it has been gratifying to hear the responses from so many of you. These conversations are so critical. I’ve seen firsthand how your feedback guides the choices we make in designing our solutions so that we’re always innovating and meeting your needs. And I’m very much looking forward to having more of these conversations as Merge continues to roll out new developments with an eye squarely on the clinical side. 2025 is going to be an exciting year for us all.

In the news: Merative CEO Gerry McCarthy on AI trends for 2025

“AI isn’t the first technology that has fallen short of being the immediate panacea for all healthcare problems,” writes Merative CEO Gerry McCarthy. Reaping the full promise of AI in healthcare will take years of targeted deployments first – with use cases driving AI’s adoption, rather than the other way around. For medical imaging, that means using AI to alleviate administrative tasks, help reduce clinician burnout, and prioritize the patients most in need of care. Check out Gerry’s full article on how AI can help improve imaging workflows, and other trends that will define the direction of health IT in 2025.
