PO08002, WorkItem:243515 - Thread blocking and contention Issue in classic Rule set
Issue Description:
Where a product has calculations utilising a large number of non-CER Rulesets and experiences high concurrency, there can be thread contention in method curam.util.rules.RuleSetCache.getDynamicRulesRoot(...) resulting in blocked threads.
**User Interface Impact: **No.
Steps to Reproduce:
This issue is dependent on a number of factors including custom implementation code, evidence, workload and environment. As such it cannot be reproduced using the OOTB product.
Resolution:
The caching mechanism of non-CER rulesets has been changed to per thread instead of per transaction.
Technical:
Once a Ruleset has been loaded by a thread, it remains available to subsequent transactions which use this thread from the thread pool.
If necessary the memory overhead of the cache can be tuned using the following timeToIdle and timeToLive parameters:
- curam.cache.thread-group.RuleSetsThreadCache.timeToIdle
- curam.cache.thread-group.RuleSetsThreadCache.timeToLive
For more information on Thread Local Caches please refer to the documentation at:
https://curam-spm-devops.github.io/wh-support-docs/spm/pdf-documentation
Note that Curam Express Rules uses a different caching mechanism and is not affected by this change.
