COMMON
PO08535, WorkItem:258780 - Word document editing is not working for the browser Internet Explorer 11 and Microsoft Word Integration
Issue Description:
Microsoft Word Integration Applet JARs have been digitally signed with a version of the JDK which is not compatible with Oracle JRE 7u67 in the Internet Explorer 11 browser, causing an error when Microsoft Word is launched when editing Word documents.
User Interface Impact: No
Prerequisites:
To reproduce this issue a client machine using Oracle JRE 7u67 and Internet Explorer 11 is required.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Login as a caseworker using Internet Explorer 11.
- Register a Person and create a Social Assistance Integrated Case.
- Navigate to the Contact tab and click on Communications.
- Click on the menu item to create a New Microsoft Word document.
- Select a Case Participant and click Next.
- Enter a Subject and click Save.
- Issue: Microsoft Word should launch and present the document for editing. However, the following error message is displayed:
- java.security.AccessControlException: access denied ("java.util.PropertyPermission" "jacob.dll.path" "read")
Resolution:
This issue has now been resolved and Microsoft Word launches successfully and presents the Word document for editing when using the Internet Explorer 11 browser.
Technical:
The Microsoft Word Integration Applet JARs have been digitally signed with a JDK that is compatible with Oracle JRE 7u67. This issue does not affect the Google Chrome Word Integration solution, which does not use Applets and therefore does not require signed JARs.
WIDGETS
PO08713, WorkItem:258777 - Microsoft Word Integration feature hides the actual application exception (AppException) thrown during the generation of a document
Issue Description:
If an application exception (AppException) is encountered when using the Microsoft (MS) Word Integration feature, the AppException may be hidden and the following generic message shown in its place:
'The page you have requested is not available. One possible cause for this is that you are not licensed for the necessary Merative Social Program Management module. If that is the case, you can use the User Interface administration screens to remove these links.'
**User Interface Impact: **No
Prerequisite(s):
Update the server code to throw an application exception
- Modify curam.core.facade.impl.Communication#getWordTemplate
DocumentAndData() to throw any existing AppException and perform a server build.
Note: This change needs to be reverted once the issue is reproduced.
Check for the existence of a Microsoft Word Template
- Login as a system administrator.
- Navigate to Microsoft Word Templates under Communications in the shortcuts panel.
- If none exists, use the New page action to create a new one.
- Provide a Name, Template ID, and browse and upload a Microsoft Word template file.
- Select the appropriate Locale and click Save.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Login as a caseworker.
- Register a new Person.
- Click on the Client Contact tab and select Communications.
- Use the New Microsoft Word page action to create a new MS Word Communication.
- Specify the details and click Save.
- Issue: The message displayed is not the application exception message that has been thrown inside getWordTemplateDocumentAndData().
Resolution:
The FILE_EDIT widget has been updated to display the correct error message when an application exception is encountered during the creation of a MS Word Communication.
PO08737, WorkItem:259135 - Microsoft Word Integration feature not working in Google Chrome if the client has more than one Chrome profile
Issue Description:
When using the Google Chrome browser and the Microsoft (MS) Word integration feature, sometimes MS Word does not launch properly if the client has more than one Chrome profile set up.
User Interface Impact: No
Prerequisites:
- Install the IBMCuramWordIntegrationAssistant.msi which is located in IBM/Curam/Development/CuramCDEJ/lib/curam/installers.
- Install the 'Merative Social Program Management File Edit Native Messaging Bridge' extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Set a JRE_HOME Environment variable to point to the location of an installed JRE.
- Create a new browser profile in Chrome, as described here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2364824.
- Switch to the new profile in Chrome.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Login as a system administrator.
- Navigate to MS Word Templates under Communications in the shortcuts panel.
- Choose a sample template that you would like to edit through the application.
- Set the Category to be All Communication - All Communications and click Save.
- Login as a caseworker.
- Register a Person.
- Click on the Client Contact tab and select Communications.
- From the page action menu select New Microsoft Word.
- On the first modal, check the Client is Correspondent check-box and click Next.
- In the next modal, fill in the required fields and select the Microsoft Word Template created previously.
- Click Save.
- Issue: Microsoft Word fails to open.
Resolution:
The Merative Social Program Management File Edit Native Messaging Bridge assumed that the Chrome profile was called Default. When there is more than one profile, they are named Profile 1, Profile 2, etc. The bridge has been fixed to properly identify the correct Chrome profile when attempting to launch Word.
