In the spotlight
Merative Cúram v8.1.3.0 includes key enhancements to our user experience and developer productivity.
User Experience:
- (Accessibility – Caseworker and Clients) At Merative, we are committed to ensuring our systems meet recognized industry accessibility standards. The 8.1.3 release includes enhancements across numerous WCAG 2.1 criteria to improve accessibility for both clients and caseworkers. These enhancement vary in nature; from additional metadata to ensure screen readers can correctly and intuitively convey everything on the page, removing truncation of data for better readability, e.g. data in context panel, to more visual changes on the UI such as labels for each distinct element of a phone number or changing how task list pages conveys for each task if, and with whom, a task is being worked on by.
- (Field Validations – enhanced CE capability) We’ve streamlined the Citizen application by reducing unnecessary scrolling, making it easier for users to identify errors quickly. This improvement not only enhances the overall user experience but also ensures greater accessibility for individuals using screen readers, fostering inclusivity. (note: To enable accessible server-side validations CE version 7.4.0 or later is required.)
Developer Productivity:
- (DB Support) Introduced support for IBM DB2 community edition for customers to use in development and test environments reducing overall costs of IBM DB2 licenses that are required. In addition, we have upgraded the version of H2 that we support, providing greater compatibility with Oracle reducing rework.
- (Authentication) In v8.1.3.0, the Cúram Login Module has been enhanced with dedicated modules for SAML and OIDC authentication on IBM WebSphere Liberty. New features include internal and external user verification, Alternate login ID support and efficient security cache population—eliminating the need for server restarts when adding users. Authentication events are now logged in the AuthenticationLog table for enhanced auditing and traceability.
Merative Cúram Editor Applications v2.0 is now available!
Background:
- Before 8.1.3, the Editor Applications asset consisted of two parts - server side (.jar) and client side (.msi). With Cúram 8.1.3.0, the Editor Applications has been updated to version 2.0. In Cúram 8.1.3.0, the server-side code of the Editor Applications asset has been integrated into the Cúram codebase. As a result, only the client-side code remains part of the asset.

Google Manifest V2 Support Timeline - for Microsoft Word Integration
Google has published an update regarding the withdrawal of Manifest V2, which will impact users using the older version of the Cúram browser extension, for MS Word Integration. Due to Google's withdrawal of support for Manifest V2 extensions, Merative released a new browser extension (in 2023) that clients must now adopt.

New Courses for Cúram v8.x:
- CUR090 – Merative Cúram for Developers (ADE) 8.X: This self-paced course provides learners with a technical understanding of the Cúram Application Development Environment (ADE). This course provides a solid grounding in the Cúram model-driven development approach and ADE. It presents an architectural overview of the Cúram application and introduces ADE features and tools for modeling, coding, building, and troubleshooting applications. During the course, learners will design and implement a simple end-to-end application using many ADE client and server features.
- CUR091 – Merative Cúram for Developers (Customization) 8.X: This course introduces learners to the techniques that are used to customize Cúram out-of-the-box (OOTB) solutions for Cúram implementation projects. The course describes the approach for customizing OOTB applications compliantly and how to customize client and server artifacts, including source code and non-source code artifacts. The course then outlines how REST and web services are used to integrate with external applications and how custom features can be implemented using events, deferred processes, and batch processes. Finally, the course outlines the approaches for localizing, supporting, and upgrading Cúram. During the course, learners will also perform impact analysis on OOTB applications and implement compliant customizations.
